MYKOLA ZHURAVEL MASTER-CLASS (18.06.2011)
Mykola’s Zhuravel master-class – one of the most interesting event of the “APIARY / Destiny Drums” project. The master-class was devoted the technique of levkas, which is known in Ancient Egypt and later used in an icon-painting. Many works of Mykola’s Zhuravel are made exactly in this technique.
Майстер-клас Миколи Журавля – одна з найцікавіших подій проекту ”APIARY / Destiny Drums”. Майстер-клас було присвячено техніці левкасу, відомої вже у давньому Єгипті. Саме у цій техніці виготовлено значну частину творів Миколи Журавля.

“Song of the Wood” rock fairy tail costumes
Special for the “LISOVA PISNYA” rock fairy tail premiere was create the costumes, which represent the four main nature elements and two magical creatures. Idea of the costumes – Natalia Andreeva, photography and design – Vitaliy Ocheretyanyy. Costumes were made by Sveta Ostrovskaya. See below the previews and pictures .
Спеціально до прем’єри рок-феєрії “ЛІСОВА ПІСНЯ” було створено костюми, які відображають характери чотирьох основних стихій та двох магічних персонажів. Ідея костюмів – Наталія Андреєва, фотографія та дизайн – Віталій Очеретяний. Виготовила костюми Свєта Островська. Див. нижче загальний вигляд костюмів та знімки їх пошиття.
“Song of the Wood” rock fairy tail
The premiere of “Song of the Wood” rock fairy tail took place on opening of project “APIARY / Destiny Drums”. The fairy tail based on the Lesya Ukrainka works and was prepared special for “APIARY / Destiny Drums” opening.

На відкритті проекту “APIARY / Destiny Drums” відбулася прем’єра рок-феєрії “Лісова Пісня”. Рок феєрія базується на творах Лесі Українки та була підготована специально до відкриття проекту.

Welcome to “APIARY / Destiny Drums” exposition during the period of 54-th Venezia Biennale (Jun-Nov 2011). The universal art-fair including national pavilions, collateral and some another projects and expositions. Ласкаво просимо відвідати експозицію проекту ”APIARY / Destiny Drums”, яка працюватиме протягом усього періоду 54-ї Венеціанської Біенналє (червень-листопад 2011). Всесвітня арт-виставка включає державні павільйони, супутні виставки та безліч інших арт-проектів та експозицій. Ideas & Planes: construction
An exhibition was planned as single installation, consisting of video, large object of the “Apiary” project, entered in sanctuary space, and also many “drums”, suspended in air and designed with photography. Below – samples and sketches.
Виставку було задумано як єдину інсталяцію, що мала складатися з відеоряду, великого об’єкту проекта “Пасіка”, вписаного у простір вівтаря, а також великої кількості підвішених у повітрі та підсвічених “барабанів”, оформлених фотографіями. Далі – конструкції, зразки та скетчі.

…The mass perception reduces the culture to the certain artwork. But the culture is not a fragment of reality; the culture is the reality itself. In this cultural reality the object of perception is determined by the position of the person, which perceives this object. Every position has a right to exist and should be tolerated from the other positions…
…The culture is rooted in everyday life. The conscious or unconscious choices of the style of life, the attitude to the cultural reality are the main causes of the cultural changing.
… In many cultures (Ukrainian, Chinese, Italian etc.) a woman as traditional bearer and keeper of the everyday cultural experience connects ethnical and mythological moments of the life style.

Вiталiй Очеретяний, фотограф, проект “Барабани Долі”:
«Розібраність», фрагментарність сприйняття реальності, масовий характер розуміння самої культури у обмеженому ракурсі окремого твору, примушують по новому розглянути ідею особистого сприйняття, зрозуміти її неочевидність.
Зміни в культурі є єдиним достовірним фактом її життя; культура грунтується у побутовому вимірі і тому свідомий або несвідомий вибір людиною певного способу життя та свого сприйняття культурної реальності є причиною та головним фактором її змін.
У багатьох культурах, включно українську, італійську, китайську, тощо жінка традиційно є охоронцем та носієм побутового аспекту культури, його зв’язку з етнічними та міфологічними складовими образу життя; головною ланкою у передачі повсякденного культурного досвіду.

Mykola Zhuravel, artist, “Apiary” project:
The art project Apiary by Mykola Zhuravel combines images of a bee, a beehive, a man and a temple. The artist creates a model of human society. In this model the temple San Stae turns into the beehive and the visitors turn into bees.
The bee that brings honey to the beehive symbolizes a man, who comes to the temple with love to neighbour. This is how we can achieve harmony in our world.

Микола Журавель, художник, проект “Пасіка”:
Художній проект «Пасіка» Миколи Журавля об’єднує образи бджоли, вулика, людини та храму. Митець створює модель людського суспільства. В цій моделі храм «Сан Стае» перетворюється на вулик, а відвідувачі на бджіл.
Бджола, що несе мед до вулика, символізує людину, яка приходить до храму з любов’ю до ближнього. В такий спосіб ми можемо досягти гармонію в нашому світі.
